We already had the pleasure of participating in last year’s track and field competition, held as part of the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial. Every event involved thrilling moments and intense sporting experiences. This is true of anyone who has attended this series of meetings, ranked among the internationally renowned in the sport. However, this time the meeting gained a particular uniqueness. For the first time, the Diamond League took place in a truly spectacular fashion at the National Stadium in Chorzów. For us, as the visual organiser of the winner zone, it was a great honour to take part in this prestigious meeting.
We are delighted to have been there at this historic moment, share the excitement and “dress up” the event with a modern LED system. As with previous editions of Silesia World Athletics, we focused on commitment, creativity and professionalism. It couldn’t have been any other way. Undisputed global stars, icons of track and field, came to Silesia.
On 6 August 2022, the Silesia Stadium shone on the world athletics stage – figuratively and literally. An impressive LED stage was one of the highlights of the meeting. Our LED screens lit up the stadium, drawing the attention of spectators worldwide during the memorable awards ceremony and beyond. We designed the platform in line with the high standards demanded by Diamond League. The elegant stage set-up, designed in a minimalist, modern style, plus the appropriate arrangement of the outdoor LED media, created an impressive package. It was both a challenge but also an absolute pleasure. In a word, it was a fantastic experience.
The set-up blended harmoniously with the graphic materials. Working on the content was an incredibly important part of the whole process of preparing the visuals. The images projected on the OUTDOOR LED screens created an incredible atmosphere and gave spectators the proverbial chills. We were responsible for the comprehensive preparation of the meeting’s graphic design – from concept development to final delivery. Attention to every aesthetic and technical detail guided us at every stage of preparation. We created dedicated animations for each discipline. They were dynamic and lively, as befits the heated atmosphere of a sporting competition.
All visuals were coherent, based on the adopted ‘diamond’ colour scheme. All was in keeping with the branding and the importance of the competition. The graphic material creation was based on close collaboration with the organisers. Frequent consultations, regular review, meticulous work on visualisations – this was our daily work to perfect the content. We are proud that the animations we created were very well received by the meeting’s hosts. This is important because, although guided by top-down guidelines, we developed the visuals based on our own ideas. A real wave of excitement went through us as the success of the meeting proved impressive. The 2022 Diamond League drew the attention of major global media and sports enthusiasts. And we made our debut together with the Silesia Stadium! Combining the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial with the Diamond League series proved to be a beautiful nod to the Polish track and field tradition.
The whole thing turned out brilliantly. The platform, consisting of free-standing LED totems and boards, made an original reference to a sports podium. The opening and closing ceremonies and, of course, the official awards ceremony took place there. We need to stress that we designed the most important area of the stadium with multimedia. And we made sure that the stage shone until the very end. Our team produced the event for all disciplines. So we experienced incredible excitement throughout the Diamond League meeting. It was a responsibility but also a stunning experience.
The Kamila Skolimowska Memorial Diamond League 2022 is something we still remember today. It was one of the most exciting sporting events for us. Such moments stay with you for a long time and show with what passion and emotion you can handle the projects entrusted to you. We look forward to the next edition of the Wanda Diamond League. Definitely at the Silesia Stadium. And definitely with us!
